DescriptionRootstock long, thick, horizontal, often with small leaves; basal leaves ovate, dark green and shiny above, glaucous when young, later brownish or cinnamon-brown beneath, ovate, obtuse, serrate in margin, long-petiolated; stem glabrous or sparsely glandular, with 1 to 2 leaves; inflorescence glandular; sepals ovate-oblong; petals linear, obtuse, white, twice as long as sepals; follicles reddish, divergent in apex; style about 0.5 mm long.
EcologyWet places, along creeks, in the mountains to at least 1,500 meters. Type locality doubtful. Reports from Siberia apparently incorrect.
