DescriptionStems decumbent, forming mats; leaves light green, sessile, linear, succulent, acu- minate, glabrous, sparsely glandular-ciliate; flowering stems branched, few-flowered, glandular-puberulent; calyx lobes triangular, obtuse or somewhat acute; petals yellow, linear-oblong, clawless, longer than calyx lobes; carpels adnate at base.
EcologyAlong creeks in the mountains. Described from Lapland, Steiermark, Westmore- land, and Monte Baldo (northern Italy).

Petals are yellow in the area of interest; in the Rocky Mountains, sometimes orange-dotted; and in Scandinavia, sometimes also orange or purple.
