Description | Rhizome thick; outgrowing leaves firm or coriaceous; leaflets rounded to cuneate- obovate, sharply toothed, the terminal tooth smaller than the adjacent lateral teeth, mostly glabrous above, appressed silky-pubescent beneath, short-petiolulated; in- florescence shorter than leaves; fruit subglobose to ovoid. | ||
Ecology | Open slopes, borders of woods. F. virginiana described from Mexico, subsp. glauca from the Mackenzie River to Colorado and westward to Montana. | ||
