| Description | Densely tufted; caudex long, thick, very densely covered with blackish-brown remains of previous year’s stipules; basal leaves short-petiolated, densely com- pressed, 3-foliate; leaflets with 3-7 long, acute teeth above, covered with long, more or less yellowish-gray hairs, somewhat tomentose beneath, and hirsute with yellowish-gray hairs, extending brushlike in apex of teeth; stipules reddish-brown when young, darkening in age; stem with single, small leaves; flowers mostly. soli- tary, large, 15-20 mm in diameter; bractlets and sepals broad, ovate-triangular; petals yellow, obcordate; style not papillate at base. | ||
