DescriptionStem from stout, thick, brownish, pubescent caudex; basal leaves large, inter- ruptedly lyrate-pinnate, hirsute on both sides, with several pairs of small, crenate- dentate leaflets, and with still smaller leaflets between these and the large, orbicular to reniform, shallowly lobed end lobe; cauline leaves reduced, with comparatively small stipules; bractlets very small; calyx lobes triangular, acute, soon reflexed; petals deep yellow, somewhat longer than sepals, cuneate-ovate; nutlets hirsute; style reflexed, glabrous, or base minutely glandular; receptacle short-pubescent.
EcologyMeadows, woods. Described from northwestern North America.
