DescriptionSmall shrub; leaflets odd-pinnate, with 5-9 sharply and simply serrate leaflets, glabrous on both sides; flowers in corymbs, small, pink; stem armed with straight prickles; pedicels glabrous; sepals puberulent; hips globose to ellipsoid.
EcologyDry slopes. Described from cultivated specimens, presumably from the Missouri River.

Highly variable, with several varieties: the few plants taken from this area belong to var. Woddsii, with crowded, small leaflets 1.5-2.5 cm long; if other specimens are collected here, they may well prove to be of other varieties.
