Description | Shrub 2—-6 meters tall; branches reddish or brown, more or less pubescent, the lower often rooting at tip; leaves broadly ovate to oblong-lanceolate, acute, dark green and glabrous or sparsely strigillose above, paler and appressed-pubescent with short straight hairs beneath; inflorescence flat-topped, with minutely pubescent branches; petals white; style 1.5-2.2 mm long; fruit white, subglobose, glabrous to pubescent, containing somewhat flattened stone. | ||

Taxonomy notes | Specimens with leaves densely soft-pubescent beneath have been called var. Bailéyi (Coult. & Evans) Drescher (C. Baileyi Coult. & Evans). Specimens from the coast usually have less pubescent branches than those from the interior. |
