Description | Stems from creeping rhizome; flowering stems erect, quadrangular in cross sec- tion, with 3 to several pairs of opposite, fairly large, ovate, abruptly pointed leaves, the topmost largest and seemingly whorled; bracts large, petaloid, white, ovate, obtuse or somewhat acute; flowers small, purplish-black, with white hairs only at base; stamens longer than styles; fruit margined, red. | ||
