Description | Trailing, matted dwarf shrub with long, flexible branches; leaves obovate to spat- ulate, coriaceous, flat in margin, lustrous above, indistinctly veined; stem more or less densely puberulent; corolla urceolate, white to pink; fruit dull red, dry and mealy, with stone consisting of several nutlets. | ||

Taxonomy notes | Var. pacifica Hult., with larger, elliptic to elliptic-cuneate leaves, red bracts, and red corolla with purple lobes, occurs along the southern coast. |
