Common namered huckleberry
DescriptionShrub erect, usually more than 1 meter tall, with prominently angled branches; leaves oval to rounded, mostly entire, but somewhat serrate in young leaves; flowers single; calyx lobes short and broad; corolla greenish to yellow, or pinkish; fruit bright red.
EcologyForests. Described from the northwest coast of North America.
UsesThe berry is edible, sour but with a good flavor, and makes a superior jelly.
