Description | Depressed or ascending, strongly branched, dwarf shrub, with terete twigs; leaves coriaceous, entire, oblong, obovate or rounded, dull green above, paler and distinctly nerved beneath; corolla urceolate, white or pinkish; berry dark blue. | ||

Taxonomy notes | Var. salicinum (Cham.) Hult. (V. salicinum Cham.), which differs in having very narrow, acute leaves (about 15 X 5 mm), occurs rarely, in scattered localities. Dotted line on circumpolar map indicates southern boundary of subsp. uligino- sum. | ||
Uses | Berry edible, sweet, with good flavor; makes excellent jam and is used for blue- berry pie. |
