Description | Stem single or branched, 20-40 cm tall, with ascending branches and 6-10 inter- nodes; radical leaves oblanceolate to spatulate-obovate, obtuse; cauline leaves acu- minate; calyx cleft nearly to base, with narrow, lanceolate, slightly uneven and acute lobes; corolla violet or lilac, rarely white, 1-1.5 cm long, fringed in throat, with oblong-lanceolate, acute or somewhat acute lobes; capsule sessile. | ||
Ecology | Moist places, meadows, along streams. G. amarella described from Europe, subsp. acuta from the Carolinas and Canada. | ||
