| Description | Glabrous; stem lacking basal rosette, from simple, 3 cm long (1-flowered) to branched, 50 cm long, many-flowered with strongly ascending branches; lower stem leaves oblanceolate, blunt, the upper linear, acute; calyx lobes narrowly linear, acute; corolla 8—15 mm long, mostly as long as, or shorter than, calyx, blue, diluted blue with darker veins, white with blue stripes, or more rarely pure white, enlarged in fruit, the lobes oblong-elliptic, acute, with pair of scalelike, fringed appendages at base; capsule oblong, somewhat acute, with many glabrous seeds. | ||
