DescriptionSimilar to subsp. sibirica, but more densely matted; leaves smaller, 7-8 mm long, pubescent with entangled cobweblike hairs; calyx arachnoid-pubescent, flowers smaller, about 15 mm in diameter.
EcologyDry mountain slopes. Described from the arctic seacoast of northwestern North America.
