DescriptionStem hispid, also hispid between nodes; leaves ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, with cuneate base, coarsely serrate, obtuse or somewhat acute, petiolated, sparsely pubescent on both sides, with appressed white hairs; corolla purple, pink, or white, the middle lobe small, deeply emarginate, the network of dark markings reaching margin.
EcologyWaste places; an introduced weed. Described from Westphalia.

The closely related G. tétrahit L., also a weed, can be expected to occur in Alaska; it differs in having the stem hispid chiefly on the nodes, the base of the leaves rounded, the middle lobe of the corolla entire, the dark markings only at the base, and the flowers larger.
