| Description | Stem short, thick, from vertical taproot, with brown remains of leaf bases at base, sparsely lanate above or nearly glabrous; basal leaves with broad rachis, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, pinnately lobed into numerous short, remote, crenate segments; inflorescence dense, capitate to oblong; lower bracts similar to leaves, longer than flowers, the upper short; calyx with triangular, acute, dentate teeth, sometimes distally enlarged; corolla purple, glabrous, with straight tube and large, thick, curved galea with slender, acute teeth; lower lip 3-lobed, shorter than the upper; 2 filaments pubescent; capsule oblong-lanceolate, acuminate. | ||
