DescriptionPlant with taproot; caudex covered with withered sheaths; leaves erect, narrowly lanceolate, sparsely pubescent on both sides with septate hairs; scapes woolly be- low; spikes dense, 3-6 cm long; bracts ovate to suborbicular, scarious-margined; calyx lobes obovate to oblong, lacerate, ciliolate; tube of corolla as long as sepals, the lobes oblong, obtuse, denticulate, whitish; stamens exserted; capsule circum- scissile about one-third of the way from base; seeds 1-2.
