DescriptionStraggling to suberect shrub, up to 2.5 meters tall, with glabrous branches; leaves elliptic to suborbicular, shallowly 3-lobed, sharply toothed, commonly with pair of glands near junction with petiole; inflorescence dense; flowers uniform, perfect, milk-white, stamens included; fruit red or orange, 1-1.5 cm long, subglobose, acid, juicy, with large, flattened stone.
EcologyWoods, thickets, to at least 800 meters. Described from Canada.
UsesThe fruit is edible, and makes a good jam; should be picked not quite ripe.
