DescriptionPlant with thick taproot; caudex ligneous; stem simple, often decumbent at base; leaves glabrous, subcoriaceous, crowded at base, oblong to spatulate, the upper lanceolate; flowers solitary, often nodding, becoming erect in fruit; corolla pale blue, narrow, with narrow segments somewhat larger than calyx lobes; capsule clavate, opening with pores near top.
EcologyDry, stony ridges on tundra and in the mountains, to at least 1,500 meters; occurrences generally very scattered.
