| Description | Loosely caespitose, more or less matted, with erect or nearly erect shoots; basal leaves spatulate to linear-oblanceolate, mucronate, floccose-tomentose beneath, green and glabrous or thinly floccose above; cauline leaves linear, with flat, brown, scarious appendages; heads solitary; involucral bracts of pistillate heads broadly lanceolate and lanate at base when young, brown and scarious at tip, in age be- coming brownish, often darker in middle; those of staminate heads elliptic, obtuse or somewhat acute, green and lanate at base when young, brown and scarious at tip, darkening in age. | ||
