Description | Stem from long, creeping rhizome; leaves divergent, sessile, broadly linear to oblong, blunt [acute in var. angustior (Miquel) Nakai (Antennaria cinnamomea var. angustior Miquel) ], linear-lanceolate-attenuate at tip; white-tomentose (rarely rusty) beneath, glabrous or tomentose above; inflorescence a corymb with many heads; involucral bracts pearly white, obtuse or rounded; achenes papillate. | ||
Ecology | Roadsides; open forests to subalpine zone. Described from North America and Kamchatka. | ||
Taxonomy notes | Highly variable; mountain specimens are low-growing, with leaves lanate above, and with involucral bracts marked by brown spot at base (var. subalpina Gray). |
