Description | Matted; stems from woody, branched caudex, with sterile rosettes of leaves; basal leaves thrice ternately divided, with lanceolate ultimate segments, pubescent with appressed, white hairs, rarely almost glabrous (var. subglabrata Hult., in southwestern Alaska); stem leaves reduced, the uppermost lanceolate; inflorescence capitate or elongated; involucral bracts oblong to oval, densely woolly, with scari- ous, brown, ciliate margin; disk flowers yellowish, glandular-dotted, with sparsely pubescent lobes; seeds glabrous, glossy. | ||
