Description | Stems from stout, woody caudex, with short runners and sterile rosettes; basal leaves bipinnately dissected into mostly 5-7 pairs of pinnae, with linear or linear- lanceolate, acute, ultimate lobes; stem leaves reduced, the upper linear; heads nod- ding, the lower long-peduncled; involucral bracts ovate-lanceolate to elliptical with dark-brown, scarious margin; disk flowers yellow, pubescent; achenes glabrous; pappus lacking. |
Ecology | Meadows, in the mountains to at least 2,000 meters. Described from Unalaska, Cape Espenberg, St. Lawrence Island and Bay, and Kamchatka. |
