DescriptionErect, glabrous, annual or biennial, with taproot, lacking basal shoots; leaves divided twice pinnately or the upper pinnatifid, with linear, acute, toothed, ultimate segments; inflorescence dense, spikelike; heads subglobose, subsessile, erect; in- volucral bracts roundish, with broad, scarious margin and green midrib; corolla glabrous.
EcologyWaste places; an introduced weed. Described from New Zealand. Introduced in Europe and in eastern North America.
