Description | Nearly glabrous; stem mostly simple, from short caudex; basal leaves ovate, lyrate or reniform, crenate to dentate; cauline leaves mostly pinnatifid, the upper reduced; heads solitary; involucral bracts often purplish; ligules long, yellow, mostly more or less reddish on back, or lacking [f. columbiénsis (Gray) Fern. (var. colum- biensis Gray)]; disk corollas orange; achenes glabrous; pappus white. | ||
