DescriptionStem usually solitary, glabrescent, from stout rhizome; basal leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, denticulate to nearly entire, nearly glabrous; cauline leaves few, reduced, sessile; inflorescence corymbose; peduncles with several linear bracts above; heads several; involucrum arachnoid, pubescent to glabrous; involucral bracts broadly lanceolate, with black, triangular tip, dark-pubescent at apex; ligules up to 16 mm long, usually much shorter, yellow; achenes glabrous; pappus white.
EcologyIn the mountains to at least 2,000 meters in the Yukon.

The species name alludes to the type locality: “Bloody Fall, where the Esquimaux were destroyed by the Northern Indians that accompanied Hearne.”
