DescriptionGlabrous; stems usually branched, several, from taproot and short caudex; basal leaves spatulate to ovate, entire, coarsely toothed or rarely laciniate; stem leaves narrow, reduced; heads cylindrical, narrow, several at ends of branches; outer in- volucral bracts broadly lanceolate to ovate, broader than in C. nana, the inner oblong, obtuse, scarious-margined; ligules yellow; achenes with long, slender beak, ending with flat disk when ripe, nearly beakless when young; pappus white.
EcologyGravel; to at least 1,000 meters. Described from “Battures of the Assiniboine R.” (where it does not occur).
