DescriptionCulms slender, up to 60 cm tall, from subterranean runners, with 1-2 nodes; ligules 1-2 mm long; leaf blades mostly involute, filiform, nearly glabrous; panicle cylindrical to narrow pyramidal, grayish-brown; glumes short-acuminate or blunt, hyaline at least at tip; lemma with short awn, fixed at or usually below middle; callus hairs much shorter than lemma.
EcologyShores, wet places. An extremely variable plant, probably w1th local races.
