DescriptionDensely tufted, culms coarse, soft, up to 80 cm tall, pubescent at and below nodes from soft, downward-pointing hairs; ligules 24 mm long; culm leaves short, 2—4 mm broad, grayish, puberulent; panicle oblong to broadly ovate, whitish or grayish- green to violet, with pubescent branches; glumes scaberulous, upper floret with hooked awn usually close to apex, lower floret with short hairs at base.
EcologyNot native within area considered; waste places, roadsides, yards, fields. De- scribed from Europe.
