DescriptionTufted, mostly glaucous; culms mostly stiff, often curved, with only 2-3 joints, uppermost internode long; leaves spreading, long-acuminate, the uppermost short, at or below the middle of culm; 1-2 branches of panicle together, scabrous, straight, spreading, or dense and erect [var. conférta (Blytt) Nannf. (P. conferta Blytt)]; glumes broadly lanceolate; lemma scabrous; keel and lateral nerves pubescent, mostly without cobweb hairs at base.
EcologyExtremely variable. Dry slopes, sandy places, in the St. Elias Range to at least 2,300 meters. Described from Norway.
