DescriptionTufted; culms stout, tall; sheaths more or less retrorsely scabrous; leaves 3—4 mm broad, scabrous; panicle open, with branches 15-20 ¢cm long, the lower 3-5 together, naked below; spikelets 3—6-flowered; glumes acute, scabrous on keel; lemmas gla- brous, somewhat pubescent on keel and marginal nerve, with tuft of cobweb hairs at base.
