DescriptionCulms stout, straight, 20-30 cm tall, in far arctic specimens 8-10 cm; leaves filiform, canaliculate; spikes obovate or globose; outer scales prominent, triangular, broad, up to half as long as the head, dark brown; upper scales with dark center, hyaline in margin; bristles pale, rust-colored; anthers 0.5-1 mm long.
EcologyWet places. Described from northern Scandinavia.
