DescriptionCaespitose; culm with old leaves at base; leaves 1.5-3 mm broad, scabrous in margin; spikes with inconspicuous staminate flowers at base, pistillate flowers at tip; lower 2—4 bracts up to 20 cm long, leaflike; scales acuminate; perigynia (in- cluding bidentate beak) lanceolate, serrulate in margin, longer than scales, greenish with reddish-brown tip.
EcologyMeadows, grassy slopes. Described from “Nov. Ebor. Comitat.” (New York).
