DescriptionBluish-green, with thin subterranean runners; roots lacking rust-colored tomen- tum; culms thin, slack; leaves 1-2 mm broad, shorter than culm; lower bract with sheath 1-2 cm long and blade 1-3 cm long; apical spike staminate, long-peduncled, the lateral 1-2 pistillate, on long, thin, glabrous peduncles; scales broad, light brown with greenish midvein; perigynia grayish-green, elliptical to lanceolate, with short beak, slightly longer than scales.
EcologyWet places, mostly in woods.
