DescriptionSimilar to subsp. reticulata, but leaves more rounded or even cordate, glabrous or nearly so, with long, glabrous petioles and glabrous branches.
EcologyA coastal race, poorly delimited, but obvious if many specimens from the coast are compared with inland specimens. Described from Kamchatka.

Subsp. glabellicirpa Argus, possibly a hybrid, with oblong pistillate bracts and glabrous or partly pubescent capsules, occurs in the Queen Charlotte Islands.
