DescriptionDwarf shrub, with thick branches; leaves obovate or elliptical, blunt or somewhat acute, entire in the margin, slightly white-haired, pale below; catkins short and broad, bracts obovate or rounded, brown, white-haired; capsules glabrous, with style about 2 mm long.
EcologyAlpine tundra.

Similar to S. ovalifolia (no. 16, above), but differs in having long styles and thick branches and in having an alpine habitat; also similar to S. fuscescens (no. 15, above), but differs in having long slender styles and entire leaf margins.
