DescriptionShrub up to 1.5 meters tall; young twigs densely grayish-villous, pubescent; leaves grayish-pubescent on both sides, elliptical, obovate to oblanceolate, mostly acute, entire in the margin or somewhat glandular-denticulated at base; catkins cylindrical, densely flowered, with villous rachis; bracts oblong to obovate-oblong, obtuse, darker in apex, gray-pubescent on both sides; capsules subsessile, ovate- oblong to conical, densely grayish-tomentose, with distinct style.
EcologyForms thickets along rivers, both on tundra and in mountains.
