| Description | Tall shrub with thin branches; young twigs pubescent, glabrescent in age, dark reddish-brown, shiny; leaves oblong-lanceolate, flat, finely and sharply serrated in margin to nearly entire, slightly pubescent when young, later glabrous, dark green above, glaucous beneath; catkins densely flowered, short-peduncled, developing before leaves, about 4 cm long and 4 mm broad; bracts ovate, brown, paler at base, with long, white or grayish pubescence; capsules ovate-conical, grayish-pubescent. | ||
