DescriptionDensely tufted to pulvinate; stem densely covered with short, flat leaves, ciliated with stiff hairs; calyx glabrous, mostly reddish; peduncles short; petals purple (rare- ly white); capsule as long as calyx or somewhat longer.
EcologySandy soil, ridges, to at least 2,200 meters. Described from Lapland, Austria, Switzerland, and the Pyrenees.
