DescriptionRhizome filiform, bright yellow; leaves persistent through winter, lustrous, dark green above, paler below, with 3 sharply toothed leaflets; scape single-flowered, with short bract; sepals white, pinkish on outside, elliptic-lanceolate; petals round- ed-obovate; follicles 3-6, long-stipitated at maturity, with long straight beak.
EcologyWoods and thickets; mossy places. Described from Canada, Siberia.

C. groenlandica (Oeder) Fern. (Anemone groenlandica Oeder) is also included in range shown on circumpolar map, since it seems impossible to distinguish it from the Alaskan plant.
