DescriptionShrub up to 2 meters tall, in Alaska usually lower; winter buds glutinous, glabrous or somewhat rushy-pubescent; leaves with 7-11 ovate-lanceolate, acute, sharply serrulated, glabrous or sparsely pubescent leaflets, pale beneath; petioles reddish, with rust-colored pubescent stipules at base; inflorescence flat-topped, with rust- colored pubescence; calyx lobes ovate-triangular, fimbriate-ciliate; petals white or reddish; fruit bright red, spherical to elliptical, not very acid.
EcologyMountain slopes.
UsesThe fruit makes good jam.
