DescriptionStems decumbent, grayish-puberulent, several from woody rootstock; leaves alter- nate, fleshy, glaucous, usually very finely puberulent, elliptic-ovate to lanceolate, blunt or acutish, not veiny; flowers in upper axils; calyx purple-tinged; petals purple or roseate, rarely white; style glabrous, shorter than stamens; stigmas short and thick.
EcologyRiver bars, along streams, scree slopes, in the mountains to at least 2,000 meters. Described from Siberia.
UsesThe young leaves are eaten raw or boiled by the natives.
