DescriptionStem simple, from branching rhizome, pubescent with spreading hairs, glandular above; leaves opposite, elliptic to ovate, slightly serrulate in margin, becoming black in drying; flowers in terminal racemes, capitate when young, thick, cylindric, not interrupted in fruit; calyx glandular; corolla blue to violet; capsule glandular, some- what emarginate.
EcologyMeadows, mountain slopes, to at least 2,000 meters.
