DescriptionStems single or few together, simple or branched above, erect, pubescent; leaves alternate, lanceolate, attenuate-caudate to nearly linear, the upper broader than the lower, short-pubescent; inflorescence elongated, more or less woolly-pubescent, with often yellowish hairs; bracts greenish-yellow, mostly entire, or the upper laciniate; calyx greenish-yellow, white-pubescent or yellowish-pubescent; corolla not much longer than calyx, the upper lip greenish, the lower yellowish.
EcologyAlong streams, in meadows, in the mountains to at least 1,200 meters.

In var. auricoma (Pennell) Hult. [C. pallida subsp. auricoma Pennell, C. pallida subsp. Mexiae var. auricoma (Pennell) Boiv.], the inflorescence is yellowish and long-pubescent.
