DescriptionStems erect, from branching, somewhat woody rootstock; leaves strigose-pubes- cent, oblanceolate, obtuse, 1-3-nerved, the upper reduced, heads solitary; involucral bracts obtuse, purple-tipped; ligules white or pink; achenes flat, 2-nerved, strigose; pappus sordid.
EcologyGrassy slopes, stony alpine tundra, in the mountains to at least 1,900 meters. Described from northern Russia, Siberia, and the Rocky Mountains.
