DescriptionStem solitary, mostly simple, from thick rhizome, covered with remains of previ- ous year’s leaves, pubescent with septate hairs; leaves obovate to spatulate or ellip- tic, the middle and upper sessile, coarsely serrate, pubescent; heads solitary; in- volucral bracts lanceolate to elliptic, glandular, densely pubescent toward apex; ligules 12-17 mm long, yellow; flowers glabrous; anthers purple; achenes short- hispidulous, with stipitate glands; pappus tawny, subplumose.
