DescriptionStem mostly single, floccose, pubescent, from thick, short rhizome; basal leaves lanceolate to oblanceolate, entire or remotely sinuate-dentate, glabrescent in age; stem leaves reduced, linear; heads 3-6 in dense, aggregate, yellowish-lanate to brownish-lanate inflorescence, glabrescent in age; involucral bracts lanceolate- linear, acute, often dark purplish; ligules pale yellow, short; achenes ribbed, gla- brous; pappus dirty white.
EcologyHeaths, in the mountains to at least 2,000 meters.
